no frickin WAY would you get me on those mountain roads!!
actually a funny story... My wife and I went on a honeymoon to Colorado hiking. To break up the trip and give our legs a rest, we decided to take our rented jeep liberty on "The Highest Paved Road in North America." We also opted for a dirt switchback road for the drive there, so we didn't just drive up and drive back on the same road. Somehow it never came up that we are both scared to death of heights. I guess we didn't understand the steepness involved.
~anyways, I drove and she rode. Verdigo hit me about a quarter of the way UP to the spot we were meeting the highest paved road. Since there was no point to turn around we kept going. She started to shake about half way up. At one point when I had to stop and start again, the jeep started to roll backwards for a half foot and she yelped. I wasn't much better covered in sweat and white-knuckling the steering wheel.
We finally reached the paved road and breathed a sigh of relief. Then it started to fog up! We had to drive back down the paved road in pea-soup fog, knowing the dropoffs we were next to. We didn't say a word the entire trip back to the cabin. |

LOL quite impressive. I don't think I would have felt better, even though I lived on the 17th floor for many years. It's still very scary in the mountains |

Looks a bit similar to our Ghat 9mountain) section between Mumbai and Pune. We have the landslides added to it as well. But the roads are good. I would love to do the sand driving... That is exciting!! |
